Scholarship Requirements

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA for High School Seniors
  • Minimum 2.8 GPA for Undergraduate/Graduate Students
  • Is an established resident of San Diego County at time of application
  • LGBTQ+ high school senior continuing to full-time** undergraduate study or
  • LGBTQ+ full-time** graduate student
  • Must attend the Awards Ceremony

** We will consider half-time applicants with an explanation of the circumstances that prevents you from attending full-time.

Award of all scholarships will be calculated upon the following criteria:

  • A well-written application essay
  • Demonstration of financial need
  • A history of strong academic achievement
  • Compliance with all application requirements

  1. Complete the online scholarship application form
  2. Complete the general essay for all applicants (250 word minimum, 1000 words maximum)
  3. Submit one (1) signed letter of recommendation
  4. Email a copy of current unofficial transcript to scholarships@pflagsdc.org

PFLAG SDC General Scholarship Application Essay (required for all applicants):
Within the application form, the following essay questions must be answered in your own words and typed in English with no spelling or grammatical errors. Essays are limited to a minimum of 250 words to a maximum of 1000 words. Both questions must be answered to be considered:

  • Describe something you have done in recent years that has made a positive impact in your community.
  • How do you plan to support your community in the future?
